Lafayette Tower, Washington, DC

A fast enclosure, without sacrificing safety or quality, is demonstrated in this time-lapse video of the Lafayette Tower in Washington, DC. Utilizing our UCW-725BG Unitized Curtain Wall System, manufactured by our Chester, VA fabrication plant, it took approximately 39 days to install 1,339 unitized panels on this 11-story building.

Unitized & Stick-Built

UNITIZED

Trainor Glass produces curtain wall systems of “units” or “panels” that are pre-engineered, pre-fabricated, pre-assembled, and pre-glazed. Our manufacturing facilities are state-of-the-art, providing automated, precision cutting and custom tooling in an organized, safe, clean and climate controlled environment. By completing the bulk of the detailed glazing work, we drastically reduce field labor tasks, such as applying sealant, which drastically reduces field labor hours, and therefore, risk.

The results are:

  • Superior quality. Unitized panels are airtight and weatherproof as soon as they are erected.
  • Rapid building close-in times. A skilled crew can install 20-25 units per day, about 1,500 square feet of curtain wall.
  • Less field labor hours, resulting in less risk.
  • Overall time, money and worry savings.  Our unitized systems keep projects on budget and on time.

Trainor Glass streamlines projects with its unitized systems.

STICK-BUILT

Trainor Glass Company has the experience and knowledge to help you choose the right system for your project. Although unitizing has many benefits, there are instances where a stick-built system would be the better choice. Some designs lend themselves to being stick-built in order to achieve the look the architect designed. Jobs that have non-typical sizes or do not repeat mullion and glass sizes are often stick-built. Some smaller jobs that require off the shelf materials may be stick-built. Whether it be a stick-built or unitized project, Trainor Glass will bring the most cost effective and schedule conscious product to the table to ensure a successful project for our client.

Transition Systems

Trainor Glass Company can provide systems that simplify the installation of transitions from windows to curtain wall systems or wall assemblies while ensuring a continuous, compatible and durable seal. The Proglaze® ETA Trainor Glass installed at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin attaches directly to the glazing system allowing silicone rubber extensions to overlap the face of the surrounding substrate.

  • Help prevent mold
  • Help prevent air and moisture infiltration
  • Reduce energy consumption for heating and cooling
  • Offer a high quality transition from glazing system to surrounding conditions
